ChatGPT Simple Export is a local-only browser extension that lets a user export the currently open ChatGPT conversation as JSON, Markdown, or HTML.

Summary

ChatGPT Simple Export does not operate a backend service and does not send exported conversation data to the developer or to third parties. The extension reads the currently open ChatGPT page in the user's browser, generates an export locally on the device, and downloads the file to the user's computer.

Data the Extension Accesses

To perform its single purpose, ChatGPT Simple Export may access the following data from the currently open ChatGPT conversation page:

Website content, including message text, images, links, and other content visible in the conversation
Personal communications, to the extent that a ChatGPT conversation may contain chat-style messages entered by the user or returned by ChatGPT

The extension does not access unrelated websites. It is limited to:

How the Data Is Used

The extension uses accessed data only to:

read the currently open conversation
generate a local export file in JSON, Markdown, or HTML format
trigger a download requested by the user

The extension does not use accessed data for advertising, profiling, analytics, creditworthiness, lending decisions, or any purpose unrelated to exporting the current conversation.

Data Sharing and Sale

ChatGPT Simple Export does not sell user data.

ChatGPT Simple Export does not transfer user data to third parties, except as necessary for normal browser operation initiated by the user, such as saving a downloaded file to the user's device.

Remote Services and Transmission

ChatGPT Simple Export does not send conversation content to the developer's servers because it does not use developer-operated servers.

The extension does not upload exported conversations, does not sync them to a cloud service, and does not transmit conversation content to third parties.

Storage and Retention

The extension does not maintain its own persistent storage of exported conversation content.

Conversation content is processed in the browser while the export is being prepared and is then written only to the file the user explicitly downloads. Any retention after that is controlled by the user and the user's own device, browser, and file system.

Permissions

The extension requests access only to ChatGPT pages so it can read the conversation currently open in the tab and export it locally.

The extension does not request background, tabs, history, storage sync, or broad cross-site access permissions.

Children's Privacy

ChatGPT Simple Export is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
